Millennium Park is Chicago's award-winning urban hub for art, music, architecture, and landscape design. The result of a unique partnership between the City of Chicago and the philanthropic community, the 24.5-acre park features the work of world-renowned architects, planners, artists and designers, including two hugely popular and innovative public art works: the interactive multi-media Crown Fountain by Jaume Plensa and Anish Kapoor's Cloud Gate, a stainless steel sculpture that reflects the city's famous skyline and the clouds above.
Ed Uhlir, Executive Director of Millennium Park, Inc., was appointed in 1998 by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley as the Director of Design for the Millennium Park Project. He is also a consultant to various private and public organizations regarding park planning and development and is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. Previously he had served as Director of Architecture and Engineering and Director of Research and Planning of the Chicago Park District.
Ed Uhlir and Millennium Park have received over forty awards, including the American Institute of Architects 2006 National Honor Award for Urban Design.
